Dr. Renee Cobos is a board certified dermatologist. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Cobos is fluent in English, Spanish and French.
Dr. Cobos was chosen as one of America's Top Dermatologists for 2010 by the Council for Consumer Research.
Dr. Cobos has been chosen by her fellow physicians of the Orange County Medical Association as a Physician of Excellence Honoree several years in a year (2007-2010) and she is listed as one of Orange County's Top Doctors ( 2007-2010).
Los Angeles Magazine has named Dr. Cobos as one of the Super Doctors of Southern California for several years in a row.
Dr. Cobos specializes in General Dermatology including the treatment of all diseases of skin, hair and nails, skin cancer surgery, Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Medicine including cosmetic skin care and rejuvenation for the face and body. Dr. Cobos Specializes in Difficult to Treat Acne and Acne Scarring, difficult to treat brown spots (hyperpigmentation) and in Aging Successfully ™.
Dr. Cobos uses innovative combinations of techniques to achieve remarkable results for facial rejuvenation (without surgery), as well as for severe acne and acne scarring.
Training and Credentials
Dr. Cobos grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she graduated from the University of New Mexico. She received her Doctorate in Medicine from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
She completed an internship in Pediatrics at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque and completed her three year Residency in Dermatology at the prestigious University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
While a resident, she won several awards including the Westwood Dermatology Outstanding Chief Resident award and was the Grand Prize Winner of the Jefferson Center for International Dermatology Competition in Caracas, Venezuela, for her research work in Epidermolysis Bullosa.
She has extensive training in Cosmetic Dermatology and Laser Medicine including the use and application of the Fraxel re:pair CO2 laser system, the Fraxel Dual laser system, the Candela Gentle Max laser, V-Beam perfecta laser, Smooth Beam laser, Thermage CPT, IPL Fotofacials, Silk Peel Dermal Infusion, Glycolic Peels, TCA Peels, Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse and Sculptra.
Dr. Cobos was chosen as the International Grand Prize Fraxel "Picture This" winner for best clinical results using the Fraxel re:pair and re:store laser systems.
Dr. Cobos has pioneered Cobos Pain Control ™ a new technique that has ELIMINATED the use of general anesthesia, heavy sedation or pain medications such as Demerol. She uses this technique during all of her Fraxel CO2 procedures.

Dr. Cobos has authored several articles in the Dermatology literature, has written a number of chapters in major Dermatology textbooks and has given numerous dermatology presentations.
She served as an Assistant Clinical Professor in Dermatology at UCI Medical School from 1989-2009 and is on the active Medical Staff of St Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, California. Prior to entering private practice, Dr. Cobos served as chief of Dermatology at Kaiser Permanente for 8 years.
Dr. Cobos has served as President, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and Member-at-Large of the Orange County Dermatology Society.
Dr. Cobos has served as a Presidential Appointee to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Advisory committee on HIV and AIDS.

Dr. Cobos acts as a referral and educational consultant and a Physician Mentor and Preceptor for both the Fraxel Laser Systems and Thermage CPT systems, and Candela Laser Systems. She travels internationally on the behalf of Solta Medical to train Dermatologists and Plastic Surgeons who want to enhance their knowledge base regarding the Fraxel Laser Systems and Thermage CPT systems in order to maximize their patients' results.
Community Involvement
Dr. Cobos strongly believes that each of us have gifts that we can use to benefit society believes in these words by Gandhi. "Be the change that you want to see in the world". While most businesses across the country are concerned with profits alone, Dr. Cobos has extended her hand in concern to those around her.
After nearly 20 years as a dermatologist, Dr. Cobos has witnessed the devastating physical and psychological effects that numerous skin conditions can have. She founded Transform-a-Life ™ in order to offer her expertise to these patients.
Dr. Cobos has chosen to treat a limited number of patients each year for little to no cost at her state-of-the-art Premiere Dermatology and Laser Center located in the Providence Medical Center in Fullerton, California. It is the birthplace of transformed lives - changed through the power of lasers, and a generous spirit.
Dr. Cobos is the founder of The Day You Deserve, a special day of complimentary beauty treatments for past or current patients at the Virginia K. Crosson Cancer Center at St Jude Medical Center in Fullerton who serve as the models of the annual Fashion Show for the Walk Among the Stars.
Dr. Cobos works closely with the American Academy of Dermatology to actively promote sun protection awareness programs for local schools including free skin cancer screenings for students and their families, and promoting and obtaining grants for sun shade structures.
Over the last 15 years, Dr. Cobos has donated her time performing thousands of free skin cancer screenings for local Fullerton schools, St. Jude Hospital Physicians and Employees, city of Fullerton employees, St. Angela Merici summerfest, City of Brea Health Fair, Donate Life OC amongst other charitable groups.
She is actively involved in the National Charity League ( Fullerton Chapter) with her daughter, where they participate in the Hot Meals Ministry, Meals on Wheels, Florence Crittendon home, The Muckenthaler Cultural Center amongst other local community and charitable groups.
Dr. Cobos has provided free dermatology treatment for the uninsured and underinsured population of Fullerton, Ca. as a volunteer dermatologist for the St Jude Community Clinic in Fullerton.
