Dr. Cobos: Team Dermatologist for the Orange County Flyers

Dr. Cobos was contacted by the Orange County Flyers baseball team and asked to be the official team dermatologist. It is good to know that in Southern California sports figures are being educated about skin cancer and the potential dangers of sun exposure. Dr. Cobos gladly took on the responsibility to make sure that the team is covered with sun screen and offers skin checks to the players to insure that they are free of skin cancer.

Cobos – "Antioxidants are substances that protect the cells in our body from damage by 'free radicals,' unstable atoms that result when oxygen interacts with certain chemicals in the body. … Idebenone, the antioxidant ingredient in Prevage and Prevage MD, scavenges free radicals and binds them before they can cause damage to cells. I recommend using the Prevage MD, available in dermatologists' offices because of the higher concentration of idebenone. The result is effective protection from damage to your skin."

I believe that she has had Botox on her forehead, but not on her lateral eye area ( crow’s feet), or her “bunny ” lines on her nose area. I would recommend that she consider Botox to these areas because it would soften her eye area, and nose and make her appear younger."

Community News

Dr. Cobos underwrites and co-ordinates Day You Deserve for Patient Models participating in the 2007 Walk Among the Stars event at St. Jude Hospital. Sept 30 was a special day for the models.

View a recap of the day with pictures of the models being pampered by the generous supporters which included Fullerton Photographics, TGIS Catering, Joshua Christopher Salon, and the staff at Premiere Dermatology and Laser Center. Limousine service was courtesy of the Crosson family.

Community Involvement

Dr. Cobos is very involved in the Orange County community

Founder of the special Transform-a-Life ™ program, Dr. Cobos invites community residents to bring to her attention those who need, but cannot afford, dermatology care. Anyone who has a condition which negatively affects their quality of life, whether from severe acne, a disfiguring birthmark, or other laser-treatable skin problem, may request consideration for treatment at no cost. Applicants or their friend or family are asked to send an essay to Dr. Cobos. Transform-a-Life ™ applicant instructions.

Dr. Cobos is the founder of “The Day You Deserve”, a special program for the Walk Among the Stars cancer survivor models ( 2007). The WATS fashion show benefits the Virginia K. Crosson Cancer Center, St Jude Hospital, Fullerton, Ca. Dr. Cobos has been a long time member and past co chair of the Walk Among the Stars Committee

In addition to being a member of the PTA of both of her children's school, Dr. Cobos works closely with the American Academy of Dermatology to actively promote sun protection awareness programs for the local elementary schools including free skin cancer screenings for students and their families and promoting and obtaining grants for sun shade structures.

Dr. Cobos provides free dermatology treatment for the uninsured and underinsured population of Fullerton, Ca. as a volunteer dermatologist for the St Jude Community Clinic in Fullerton.
